Rachmiel Estrajcher

Murdered in the Holocaust

—

Biography

Rachmiel Estrajcher was born on 30 April 1911 in Sosnowiec, a son of Symcha Binem Estrajcher and Estera Laja Ernst, and worked as a furrier. On 13 October 1934 he travelled to Palestine, appearing on the Knesset Israel voters' lists for Tel Aviv in 1936 and for Haifa in 1938, before returning to Poland. He married Gitla Joskowits. By August 1942 the couple, back in Pabianice, had been moved into the Łódź ghetto, at Rembrandt Strasse. Rachmiel was still there in December 1943, on a list of workers in the ghetto's slipper department, and was murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau, probably in 1944.
